There is no sound as beautiful as a trombone choir, especially 21 of them. From Holland’s New Trombone Collective playing what I assume are the original charts from Urbie Green’s 21 trombones. This is the first of a few on found on YouTube. So lush, so beautiful. Bart Van Lier plays the solo on “Watch What Happens” wonderfully.

Swingin’ Jazz, Great Food and Great Service! The restaurant at Edgebrook Shopping Center is once again supporting Live Entertainment. The venue is setup well for the outdoor concerts at the entrance to the Edgebrook Mall. They have bands playing each week on Wed. or Fri. The Little Big Band is scheduled to play Fridays, June 26th, July 24th, Aug. 28th and Sep. 25th. They were welcomed by an appreciative crowd this evening and look forward to the next performance.

Ocarina and Leaf Trombone. Genius, What a great idea. You can play your iPhone like it was an instrument. Ocarina is flute-like or sounds like a recorder. You make sounds by gently blowing on the microphone and manipulating “keys” on the touch screen. It’s addicting. And now they just released Leaf Trombone which sounds like a trombone and offers a sliding leaf like the slide on the trombone. They also have musical backgrounds and the ability to play together with other iphone users. This is pretty cool. Kudos to Smule. Job well done!

These albums were given away at concerts and have never been for sale, so unless you were luck enough to get a copy you were out of luck. Enjoy...
